Infrastructure support engineer


We offer the opportunity to work in an exciting, dynamic organisation that is enjoying strong performance and growth. We are currently recruiting for a 2nd/3rd Line Infrastructure Support Engineer based in the Coventry area.

You will be working in a small multi-disciplinary team focussed on Microsoft technologies and will be supporting a wide range of customers and technologies.

The 2nd/3rd Line Infrastructure Support Engineer will only be considered if they have excellent technical, diagnostic and problem solving skills in the following:

  • Windows Server 2003 / 2008
  • Active Directory
  • Exchange 2003 / 2007
  • Terminal Services, Remote access & ISA
  • System Centre products including SCOM / SCCM / DPM

It is also required that the 2nd/3rd Line Infrastructure Support Engineer has experience in at least 2 of the following areas

  • Storage management of DAS / NAS / SAN
  • Virtualisation – VMware, VDI
  • Security products like RSA SecurID
  • Backup products e.g. BackUp Exec / HP Data protector
  • CITRIX products
  • Networking inc. CISCO LAN / WAN and VoIP

The 2nd/3rd Line Infrastructure Support Engineer must have

  • MS qualification (preferred) or at the very least some MS certification.
  • Experience of installing/troubleshooting and supporting a wide range of systems and applications.
  • Experience of installing/troubleshooting windows operating systems, deploying/packaging applications.
  • Knowledge of WAN/LAN environment and terminology, IT infrastructure and services.
  • Excellent interpersonal/customer relation experience

  • The 2nd/3rd Line Engineer must be able to communicate with customers and have a wide variety of IT experience this is essential together with patience, understanding and responsibility for customer’s problems.

    • Have a keen sense of urgency and take responsibility of incidents.
    • To be self motivated and able to work with minimum supervision.
    • Have a flexible approach and can work as a team player.
    • Demonstrate competence in oral and written communication.
    • Able to deal with customers/suppliers/peers at all levels in a professional manner.
    • Must be tolerant and adaptable to change.
    • May on occasion be required to work on other sites, full driving license essential.
