Schools playground project

Trinity breathes new life into children’s playground!
Friday 26th May 2006, Coventry

Trinity is working with Business in the Community and its Coventry Cares programme to undertake a team challenge to breathe new life into the playground at Grangehurst Primary School.

The Challenge
Grangehurst Primary, located in the north of Coventry, is one of the city’s largest primary schools with over 400 pupils. The school has a large tarmac playground bounding three sides of the school. Ball games are not permitted on the playground due to the many windows, so children can only play ball games on the field, weather permitting.

The children are encouraged to play games which require imagination and interaction and playground markings are seen as an important stimulus. Staff at the school feel that restoration of some existing markings plus other fresh ideas will bring new life to the playground.

Dave Hughes, Regional Operations Manager, Coventry Cares commented “Trinity’s staff enthusiastically took on the challenge of improving the playground and everyone at Grangehurst was very excited about the idea. The day was a huge success and everyone was very pleased with the results, hopefully the children will see the benefits especially over the coming summer months!”

Chris Drinan from Trinity who has organised the event has said “The day was great fun for everyone involved, it gave them satisfaction that they could give something to the children at Grangehurst Primary and also gave them the chance to pretend to be a kid again!”
