User experience consultant authors business case for accessible ICT

Trinity Expert Systems are pleased to announce the sponsorship of a key member of its Visual Communications Group, Nikki Ashington, to author a business case for accessible ICT. The final report, “Accessible Information and Communication Technologies: Benefits to Business and Society” was commissioned by the OneVoice for Accessible ICT Coalition and sponsored by both Trinity Expert Systems and AbilityNet in association with City University London. It is unique in that it reflects the experiences of the ICT industry, business, Government, the third sector and academia.

Executives from some of the UK’s principal employers, procurers and producers of ICT participated, discussing their business rationale for making diversity and inclusion core business values and how they have invested in accessible ICT and reaped commercial benefits. Moreover, the report offers practical advice and guidance as to how to put in place an accessible ICT strategy.

Over 50 CEO/Board level executives from the private, public and third sectors attended the launch event at Intellect in Russell Square with the following speakers:

  • Nigel Lewis, Chief Executive of AbilityNet and Chair of the OneVoice for Accessible ICT Coalition - Introduction and overview
  • Rt Hon Stephen Timms, MP - Digital inclusion: the government’s perspective
  • Andrew Witney, Managing Director at Barclays Capital and Chief Information Officer for Europe - Why Barclays Bank values ICT accessibility, diversity and inclusion
Andrew Witney, Barclays

The OneVoice for Accessible ICT Coalition was formed to develop a shared agenda for change in accessible and usable ICT in order for business and society in the UK to receive the maximum benefits from ICT.
